Job Description

Summary

A Postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jamie Anastas, Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery and at the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy at Baylor College of Medicine starting in July 2024. The Postdoc will work within a multi-disciplinary research team working collaboratively to determine the molecular drivers of brain tumor initiation and progression.

Research in the Anastas lab primarily focuses on chromatin regulation in pediatric high grade glioma (pHGG), a class of rare but aggressive brain tumors harboring frequent mutations in genes encoding histones (eg. H3K27M and H3G34R/V). Future studies will employ a suite of genetic and chemical tools to reveal how chromatin dysregulation promotes pHGG tumorigenesis on a mechanistic level and will be aimed at identifying new therapeutic targets for childhood cancers with no cure. We will also apply high-throughput pharmacogenetic screens to identify combination therapies to overcome acquired and intrinsic drug resistance in brain tumors.
